There are so many “how to build a website” self help books, Google ad’s and other contextual advertisements, web-pages and blog posts (like this one) and the list goes on and on…and not to forget all the gimmicks and the scams associated with this topic.

Unfortunately most of us have no idea on how to establish a profitable website/blog or what it takes to succeed.

When I first started out with affiliate marketing business, I knew literally NOTHING about affiliate business. I wasted a lot of time and money trying to figure out the best software and tools to use to build a website that was going to rock the affiliate world!

I tried one tool after the other. Tried all the software on sale. Read most of the ebooks and usually was among the first to buy into a new launch as soon as it came out…

What a waste of time and money. Sincerely, when I look back:

How to build a website – What the Guru won’t tell you

Any body anywhere can build a web site. It’s that easy. If you have a computer that is connected to the internet, that is all it takes for you too to create your own web site.

I totally agree with those internet sales gurus whenever they state that simple fact! But for now let us flip the coin! Let us hear the untold story that few will tell you!

Building a website that works all the time by attracting targeted visitors WILL:

Take time, requires passion and energy.
Test your patient and your undying persistence.
Need You. Your brain, your passion and your positive attitude.
Need a set of tools that have a proven track record – at succeeding.

Having said that, let me point out that this page is for anyone with a desire, a burning desire to acquire the right knowledge and the basic skill that will help you and teach you the fundamentals of how to build a website.

A website that is able to stand out distinctively from the rest of the other sites. How? By generating it’s own traffic and mostly for free for all season round, all year round.

1.) Hire a programmer or web designer

By far this is the easiest and most expensive method you can use. You simply shop around for someone or a company to do the job for you. You need to conduct a good research before you hire someone in order to get the best value of your money.

2.) Outsource

Very close to number one above, but here you only assign some aspects of your website creation to someone or company while you do the rest.

You may want to outsource such tasks as programming, content writing, logos and graphics and just about any task you’d want. A good place to check is Rent a code.

3.) WHYSIWYG Editors

What you see is what you get editors will enable just about anyone with little or no knowledge on HTML or CSS and other programming languages to build their own website from scratch to a fully functional and professional website.

Some of these WHYIWYG editors are free, like NVU HTML Editor. There are many more others of course. Be aware though that there are others that come with a price tag on them – like Dream weaver.

4.) How to build a website using a blog

Although blogs are basically for blogging, Some people or should I say bloggers utilize blogging software like wordpress to create blog posts and then turn them to static pages just like a regular webpage.
(That feature is currently located on your Wordpress (Before they change it again): Dashboard ⇒ Settings ⇒ Readings)
But before you do that it will be wise to read more about Wordpress static pages so as to have a better understanding.

5.) Web 2.0.

Social websites have taken the internet by storm. You can create a web page about you or about your product or service and then invite your friends, customers and other network user to leave a comment, discuss or just about anything that you can be able to utilize with the tools provided. Here I am talking about places like Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, Squidoo and the rest.

6.) Free websites

Another way you can build a website is by shopping around for some of the companies that offer free website with either paid web hosting or sometimes free web hosting.

Before you sign up for such places, check out their terms of service and the features that come with such freebies. Most of these sites will display advertising on your pages and there is a cap to what you can be able to do and can’t do. A good place to check is Geocities. Tripod, Doteasy and many more
